‘Making the Case for Reform in the Vascular Sector’ parliamentary drop-in

On Monday 18th May, the Vascular and Venous Disease All Party Parliamentary Group (VVAPPG) hosted its annual parliamentary drop-in session in the Houses of Parliament. The VVAPPG welcomed over 60 attendees and 20 parliamentarians to the event, including the Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Stuart Andrew MP. The session provided an important opportunity for detailed discussion on the current challenges facing the vascular sector, potential solutions to improve patient outcomes, and next steps for the development of the Commissioning Framework.

The event was opened by the Chair of the VVAPPG, Jim Shannon MP, who reflected on the strong progress made by the APPG over the past year and highlighted the growing momentum behind efforts to improve vascular care across the UK. He then handed over to long-standing supporter of the VVAPPG, Professor Stella Vig, who provided attendees with an update on the development of the Commissioning Framework and outlined the opportunities it presents to drive greater consistency and quality in vascular services.

The drop-in session also allowed parliamentarians, clinicians, patient representatives, and industry stakeholders to engage directly on the urgent need to address inequalities in vascular care and reduce preventable amputations.
